Mascherano admits to poor home form

Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has admitted that they must improve their home form if they want to remain at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds has struggled to win at Anfield in recent weeks.

“We know we have to improve at home,” he told Liverpoolfc.tv.

“If Chelsea or some of the other contenders drop points it’s better for us but we can’t keep relying on that.

“We need to think about our own form and to take the three points from every game we play. That is always our aim.”

“It’s difficult to explain why we can win away from home and not at home,” he continued.

“We need to get our confidence back at home and a good way of doing that would be to beat Bolton.

“We have had many good performances away from home this season like Chelsea and Bolton.

“A lot of teams come to Anfield to defend but it’s up to us to break them down. We need to find the space and a way to beat them.

“I don’t like to make excuses about how difficult it is to beat teams who come just to defend because we know we have the quality to beat them.

“It is great we can play at home because were away on Boxing Day last season. The atmosphere is always really good and I’m looking forward to it.”
