Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri believes his side can challenge Serie A leaders Juventus for the title if they continue playing well.

Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri believes his side can challenge Serie A leaders Juventus for the title if they continue playing well.

The Naples outfit were held to a goalless draw at Udinese on Monday and sit six points behind the defending champions.

Mazzarri was pleased with his team’s performance at Stadio Fruli, even though they could only manage a third successive league draw.

“I cannot foresee the future, I believe that if Napoli play like we played today we can create problems to any team, Juventus included,” Mazzarri told reporters.

“It will depend on us, because if we play at our maximum we know we can be dangerous for Juventus too, as it happened when we faced them in Turin.”

Mazzarri rued his side’s profligacy against Udinese after they wasted a host of opportunities in front of goal.

The Italian stressed his team need to start turning good performances into results.

“I’m satisfied with the good performance my players put in, unfortunately there are moments when you’re not lucky and you don’t manage to score,” he said.

“The goal seemed cursed, I think we deserved the victory.

“We faced a very tough opponent today and created some difficulties for them, we led the game, we had 60 percent of the possession, we created a lot of good chances to score. I’m happy with the performance.”

Napoli have an opportunity to make up ground on Juve when they face the title holders in Naples on Friday.
