Media speculation regarding the manager’s position at Manchester City is going to make it very difficult for Mark Hughes to get on with his job.
In the newspapers today there are two stories. Firstly, The Sun newspaper suggests that former Chelsea and current Inter manager Jose Mourinho will be offered £15million a year to manage Manchester City.
Secondly, The Guardian reports that Mark Hughes feared he was going to be sacked when new owner Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan wanted to see him in Abu Dhabi. Instead talks focused on the budget for the January transfer window.
Whether either of these stories are remotely true or not, who knows, but this type of speculation will get more and more intense as time goes on.
