hot-transfer-newsMenez hints at Serie A return

Paris Saint-Germain winger Jeremy Menez has moved to confirm reports linking him with a summer switch to Italian Serie A.

The highly rated footballer is widely expected to leave the Saints when his contract expires in the summer and he has a long list of suitors among Italy’s top clubs.

Having enjoyed a lot of success during his time at Roma, Menez is still held in high regard in Italy, with Juventus and Inter Milan reportedly leading the chase.

The France international admits a return to Italian elite division could be on the cards, citing a preference for Juventus.

“I had a great time in Rome,” Menez explained to La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I already speak the language. I know Serie A, I know everything about it. The adaptation would be easy. I am looking for a team that would make me rediscover the pleasure of playing football.

“Juve is a team that I really like – one of the best in Europe. It has a quality workforce, consisting solely of champions – including in my position. But competition does not scare me.”

La Liga move beckons for Valbuena

France Football is reporting that Marseille star Mathieu Valbuena is likely to move to Spanish La Liga at the end of the current campaign.

Having spent last eight years at Stade Velodrome, the France international is looking for a new challenge and club chiefs will not stand in his way.

And according to France Football, Spanish La Liga is probably going to be the player’s next destination.

Valbuena has several suitors among Spain’s top clubs that include Atletico Madrid and Valencia, and he reportedly believes the competition best suits his style.

Russian giants Zenit are also believed to be keen, but the 29-year-old is not interested in moving to Russia.

Since joining the club from Libourne back in 2006, Valbuena has amassed 235 Ligue 1 appearances, and scored 26 goals in the process.

Diego Simeone’s son on Man City radar

Portuguese newspaper A Bola understands that Manchester City are among the clubs showing interest in River Plate forward Giovanni Simeone.

The son of Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has been showing a great deal of potential of late, having been promoted to the senior squad last summer.

He has since made 14 league appearances for the Argentine giants, starting 7 of those games and scoring 2 goals in the process.

The 18-year-old attacker has in turn caught the eye of Premier League giants Manchester City, although his €15 million release clause will ensure the player does not leave on the cheap.

Simeone joined River Plate back in 2008 and went on to sign his first professional contract in November 2011.

He has since proved his worth in the senior squad and it won’t be long before he nails down a regular starting berth at Estadio Monumental.

After enjoying a 3-0 triumph over local rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford, Manchester City have been made 9/10 favourites for the Premier League title.
