Barcelona star Lionel Messi is in doubt for the La Liga leaders’ clash with Getafe on Saturday.

The 23-year-old received a knock to the knee in Barca’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla on Sunday, when he collided with opposing goalkeeper Javi Varas.

The Catalans’ top scorer received treatment on the pitch, but played out the 90 minutes as his side dropped points at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.

The club confirmed the Argentine’s progress would be closely monitored during the week, before a decision made on his availability closer to kick off.

“Messi suffered a bad knock on his right knee and his availability for Saturday’s game will depend on his progress during the week,” the statement read.

Messi’s injury concern is just the tip of the iceberg, however, with Pedro, Maxwell, Adriano and Dani Alves all in serious doubt to take their spots in the starting 11 on Saturday.

Pedro is suffering with a hernia, Maxwell has a thigh complaint, Adriano strained a leg muscle and Dani Alves is trying to overcome an ankle problem in time for the weekend.
