Swedish manager Sven-Göran Eriksson may have been linked to the vacant Mexico job, national side defender Carlos Salcido expects that taking on the task would turn out to be anything but easy.
“I prefer someone who knows the Mexican league, who knows the Mexicans in general,” said the PSV player.
“We’re really difficult, have great differences and we need a coach that can come in and let us be free.
“If it’s Eriksson, then fine. But we don’t have all the time in the world and we’re not in a luxury position to wait and see what happens,” he concluded.
Several top managers have been associated with the position, but Scolari of Portugal reportedly demanded a higher salary than what Mexico can offer.
Another option, Javier Aguirre, has already confirmed to stay with Atletico Madrid.
