Michu completes Swansea move

Swansea City have completed the signing of midfielder Miguel Perez Cuesta from Rayo Vallecano, the Premier League club announced on their official website.

The 26-year-old completed a medical at the Stadium of Liberty yesterday evening and signed a three-year contract with the Welsh side after the two clubs had earlier agreed a £2 million fee.

The attacking midfielder will join his new teammates on Sunday, just before the club departs for a 12-day tour of America.

Michu didn’t hide his excitement after the transfer was wrapped up and he explained why he opted for Swansea among other clubs.

“I’m very happy. I had other offers, but I really wanted to come to Swansea because of the coach (Michael Laudrup), the style of play and the Premier League,” Michu told club’s official website.

“I’ve always followed the Premier League from Spain and I watched a lot of Swansea games last season. They played good football and I liked their style.”

The highly rated midfielder only joined Rayo Vallecano last summer from Celta Vigo, but he largely impressed in his first ever La Liga campaign.

The attacking midfielder scored no less than 17 goals in 37 La Liga games, thus helping his side avoid a straight return to Segunda.
