Milan join race for Lucas Silva

Italian giants AC Milan appear ready to step up their interest in Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.

The Rossoneri have failed to sign a proper replacement for injured captain Riccardo Montolivo, and even though he is expected to return in December, the club aim to reinforce the midfield department in the winter.

Milan have pulled out of the race for Real Madrid star Sami Khedira seeing as how they are unable to meet the midfielder’s demands and have since turned their attention to Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva.

Coach Filippo Inzaghi has given the green light for an assault on the 22-year-old footballer having watched him on DVD, but the Rossoneri could face a stiff competition for his signature from Real Madrid and Chelsea.

While Cruzeiro are holding out for €10 million at the moment, Milan officials believe an offer in the region of €8 million would prove sufficient to lure Lucas Silva to San Siro.
