Milan makes second swoop from Gunners with Senderos

Acording to the Guardian, Philippe Senderos is expected to follow former Arsenal player Matthieu Flamini by signing for AC Milan.

Although there has been no official confirmation by either club, the leading Italian sports dailies La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Corriere dello Sport, both report that a deal has been agreed.

Senderos has joined on an alleged season-long loan, with the Rossoneri granted the option to sign the Switzerland international at a fixed price at the end of the season.

Since his arrival at Arsenal in 2003 Senderos has struggled to cement a regular place at the heart of the Arsenal defence. Currently it is occupied by William Gallas and Kolo Touré.

Moreover, last week’s arrival of Mikaël Silvestre from Manchester United appears to have put a dent in the 23-year old’s chances of any more action this season with the Gunners.

Should Senderos leave he will be the sixth player to part with the club this summer following the departures of Aleksandr Hleb, Gilberto Silva, Jens Lehmann, Justin Hoyte and of course Flamini.

Armand Traoré, Nacer Barazite and Kerrea Gilbert have also been granted loan spells elsewhere.

For Milan the arrival of Senderos, who was also linked with a move to Newcastle, will help provide cover for an injury-ravaged defence.

Their captain Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Nesta have both continued to struggle with injuries and the expected arrival of the Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic fell through at the last minute.
