Diego Milito has voiced his frustration after not being awarded a spot kick in Inter’s 2-0 Coppa Italia quarter-final loss away to Napoli.
The Argentine went to the ground inside the area in the 58th minute after a challenge from Napoli’s Christian Maggio, but referee Domenico Celi felt the action did not warrant a penalty, much to the dismay of Milito.
“I knew immediately that it was a definite penalty because I was clearly ahead of my opponent, and because I don’t go to the ground for no reason. I don’t dive,” Milito said.
The attacker then stated his satisfaction with Inter’s second-half performance, and felt they were unlucky to lose.
“We played better after the restart because in the first half we tried to keep Napoli at bay. In the second half we saw a great Inter but unfortunately that’s football for you,” he said.
Inter’s next match is the Serie A game away against Lecce on Sunday.
