Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s “incredible” form for Manchester United belies the striker’s age, according to team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The 35-year-old scored United’s second in Monday’s 3-1 win over Sunderland and set up goals for Mkhitaryan and Daley Blind as Jose Mourinho’s side made it 11 games without defeat.
With 17 goals and five assists in all competitions this season, Ibrahimovic has proven to be a pivotal part of Mourinho’s plans and the United boss confirmed after the victory over Sunderland that he expected an agreement to extend the striker’s contract by another year to be concluded soon.
And Mkhitaryan hopes that his form continues throughout the campaign, telling MUTV: “His performance doesn’t show how old he is. He’s doing some incredible stuff and I’m very happy for him because he deserves it.
“He’s a very big player and everyone knows him. I don’t have to say it because everyone knows he’s a fantastic player. I hope he will do his best for the next game as well.”
Defender Blind added: “I love the way Zlatan plays. He’s great for the team and I hope he stays in good form.”
Next up for United is a Premier League clash with Middlesbrough at Old Trafford on Saturday.
