Forbes magazine took its first look at soccer franchises, according to the Washington Business Journal, as it classified the MLS team in terms of value.
In their study, the most valued team was the LA Galaxy featuring David Beckham. The former England captain seems to have had his involvement in his team’s surge to the top of the rich list as around 300,000 replica shirts with his name on the back were sold last year, according to the same Washington Business Journal.
The LA Galaxy was valued at $100 million while the top three is rounded off by the two year-old Canadian franchise, Toronto FC (estimated value at $44 million) and the Chicago Fire (worth about $41 million).
The Kansas City Wizards are worth the least, according to the study as they amount to about $22 million.
