Sporting Kansas City went a long way towards securing their second successive MLS Eastern Conference title with a 2-0 win over Chicago on Friday.

Sporting led the conference standings by two points from the Fire heading into the match at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park, and an 11th-minute strike from Graham Zusi sent them on their way to a win.

Zusi latched on to a cross from Kei Kamara before firing a low right-footed shot past Sean Johnson in the Chicago goal.

Gonzalo Segares was sent off for the Fire in stoppage time after picking up a second booking, and Zusi capitalised moments later with his second goal in the 95th minute of the match.

The win leaves Sporting five points ahead of Chicago on top of the Western Conference standings, although Chicago have four matches remaining, one more than the Kansas City club.
