New England’s Saer Sene and Chivas USA’s Shalrie Joseph have both scored twice as their two sides played out a 3-3 draw in the MLS.
In a stunning first half, five goals were scored as New England Revolution went 3-0 ahead before Chivas pegged them back to trail by just one goal at half-time.
Miller Bolanos scored just two minutes after the break to make it 3-3 and despite both clubs having chances to score a winner, the match ended as a draw.
Sene opened the scoring in spectacular fashion in the fourth minute as Chivas defender Rauwshan McKenzie failed to clear a long pass, and the Revolution’s French striker smashed the ball around his body into the top corner.
McKenzie’s day went from bad to worse just seven minutes later when he deflected the ball into his own net and by the 21st minute, New England led 3-0 when Sene hit the back of the net with a shot from outside the box.
Joseph got Chivas back in the game with a 23rd-minute header from a corner and the Grenadian striker made it 3-2 with a cracking left-footed strike from outside the box in first-half injury time.
Just two minutes into the second half, Bolanos completed the visitors’ comeback when he volleyed home a knockdown by Casey Townsend.
Columbus Crew were the only winners in the MLS on Wednesday, coming from behind to triumph 2-1 away to Philadelphia Union.
Carlos Valdes struck in the 29th minute for the Union but Joshua Williams drew level four minutes before the break for Columbus.
The Crew eventually clinched victory when Eddie Gaven stunned the home crowd with a goal in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.
In Washington, New York Red Bulls also scored late to secure a 2-2 draw with DC United.
Joel Lindpere gave the visitors the lead after 18 minutes but it was 1-1 at half-time thanks to Nicholas DeLeon’s 21st-minute goal.
Veteran striker Dwayne De Rosario put the home side ahead in the 68th minute with his 100th MLS goal before Wilman Conde hit the back of the net with two minutes remaining to earn a draw for the Red Bulls.
