Montpellier HSC and US Boulogne join Ligue 2 champions RC Lens in next year’s edition of the Ligue 1. Both sides earned home wins on the last day of the tournament and earned promotion at the expense of Strasbourg.
Montpellier in fact faced Strasbourg and a 2-1 victory was enough to move into second place, with the away side dropping from the top three.
Boulogne took advantage of that as well, as their 4-0 win over Amiens -who in turn are relegated from the Ligue 2- allowed them to move from fourth to third place.
Le Havre are certain of being relegated from the top flight, and Nantes would need to beat Auxerre by about 15 goals to avoid relegation themselves. Saint Etienne, placed 18th, still have a chance of survival.
