Inter president Massimo Moratti believes Javier Zanetti will play for the club again despite recently sustaining a ruptured Achilles tendon.
The 39-year-old picked up the injury in the club’s 1-0 defeat to Palermo on Sunday, sparking concerns that the Argentine may be forced to end his playing career.
However, Moratti does not believe that will be the case and expects Zanetti to bounce back and recover to play in an Inter shirt once again.
He told the club’s official website: “It’s very sad, I feel really bad for him and he knows that. I spoke to him straight after it happened. But with his character he’ll be back, no doubt about it.
“The fans cannot think they will not see him back playing … I have no doubts that he will be back playing at his usual high level.”
Zanetti has spent over 17 years with San Siro outfit, winning five league titles, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Cup and four Coppa Italias during his time with the club.
