Massimo Moratti has revealed his admiration for Stevan Jovetic and warned of his quality ahead of Inter’s game with Fiorentina on Sunday.

Jovetic has scored only one league goal in 2013, in the same period which has seen the Viola win only one of their previous six games and slip to sixth in Serie A.

However, Moratti was quick to underline the ability of the Montenegrin forward and his team in an interview with Brivido Sportivo, a Fiorentina fans’ magazine.

“I love him and, even if he is not going through a good time, he is very dangerous,” the 67-year-old Italian said.

“Fiorentina is only in a relatively poor spell at the moment because they are actually not playing badly.”

Inter themselves have not enjoyed a particularly impressive start to the year, with recent Serie A defeats to Udinese and Siena, but Moratti was keen to demonstrate support for his coach Andrea Stramaccioni, even while praising others.

“(Fiorentina coach Vincenzo) Montella, as with Stramaccioni, is showing his value and has quality, courage and transparency,” the Milan club’s president said.

“But our bench at Inter is well occupied by Stramaccioni and that takes the chance away from others to coach our team.

“(Former Nerazzurri player and current Serbia trainer Sinisa) Mihajlovic is also an excellent boss, who in the past would have deserved to coach Inter.”

Inter, who sit in fifth place, have 43 points from 24 games, while Fiorentina have 39 from the same number of fixtures.
