Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti says the club are interested in signing Sampdoria youngster Mauro Icardi.
The 20-year-old is one of the revelations of the 2012/13 campaign and has already netted eight goals in 20 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria, putting himself on the radar of a number of top European clubs.
“Icardi could be one of our reinforcements if we reach an agreement with Sampdoria,” Moratti told Tuttosport.
“He will not come here to deputise for Diego Milito, though. I could see Icardi doing very well at Inter.”
The Inter supremo dismissed reports that Javier Zanetti could hang up his boots at the end of the season.
“Will Zanetti retire? No. He’s still an energetic youngster. Have you seen him run … Can you imagine him hanging up his boots? He will continue,” he said.
The 39-year-old’s contract with Inter expires at the end of the season.
