Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson will miss the rest of this season due to a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

Wilson suffered the injury in training on Wednesday and, following the results of scans, the Premier League club have confirmed he is facing six months out.

The 24-year-old has scored six goals in 21 appearances this term – a return that comes after he spent seven months of last season on the sidelines with the same injury to his right knee.

“We are all devastated for Callum,” said Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe on the club’s official website.

“What’s important now is that he receives the support and love of his family and friends, team-mates and everyone associated with AFC Bournemouth.

“Callum showed incredible character and determination to come back from a similar set-back last season and we know he has the same strength and will to do the same again.”
