Morelos signs new Rangers contract

Alfredo Morelos has signed a new contract with Glasgow Rangers, the club have officially confirmed.

After months of speculations stemming from reports of interest from a number of clubs across Europe, the transfer window is over and Morelos has decided to commit his future to Rangers by putting pen on paper on a new four-year deal.

The Colombian forward started his career in his homeland at Independiente Medellin in 2014 before moving to Finnish side HJK two years later. From there he joined Rangers in the summer of 2017 for a fee widely reported to be £1million.

The club have expressed ambition to return to the very top of Scottish football and challenge old rivals Celtic for the Premiership title, and Morelos signing a new deal and allaying the fears of the fans will be a significant boost ahead of the Old Firm Derby scheduled for later today (Sunday).

Under manager Steven Gerrard, Rangers have secured Europa League participation this season in a stunning manner, while Morelos has given vital contribution with his two goals in the qualifying rounds. In total, the 22-year-old has already found the net six times in nine competitive games this term, displaying great goalscoring form.
