Mourinho to be given £80m war chest in January

This season looks to have brought with it a straight shoot out between the two Manchester clubs for the Premier League title, but it is the Citizens who have come out on top in the first half of this campaign, leading United by eight points after 15 games.

That is not something that likely pleases Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho, and the Portuguese coach is reportedly set to receive £80m to spend in the January transfer window in order to help catch City. That’s according to the Express, who also report that United want to bring in three new faces next month.

Mourinho is also looking to offload the likes of Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw in order to free up cash, which will subsequently be spent on a left back and a right winger.

However, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s form having dropped off a cliff lately, United are crying out for a creative presence in the heart of their midfield, and that position will likely be the club’s main priority in January.
