Moussa Sissoko coy on Arsenal link

Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko has suggested that he is happy to stay at Newcastle amidst speculation linking him with a January move to Arsenal.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to be a big admirer of the French footballer and he could step up his interest this winter.

Moussa Sissoko, however, is adamant he is paying no attention to the rumours, hinting that he won’t be leaving St James’ Park before the summer.

“There were a lot of rumours (about an Arsenal move) but I do not pay too much attention,” Sissoko told L’Equipe. “I have an agent that takes care of all that and if something should happen, it will happen.

“I do have ambition and my goal is to play at the best clubs, play in the Champions League and win trophies, but today I’m a Magpie and I’m very happy.”

The highly rated footballer also moved to confirm that Arsenal were one of his favourite clubs, so it is clear that it is now up to the Gunners to make the first move.

Moussa Sissoko, 25, has proved to be a very good signing for the Magpies, having started 61 Premier League matches since joining from Toulouse and scoring 7 goals.

Newcastle will contest a highly-anticipated Tyne-Wear derby later today, where Alan Pardew’s charges are 23/20 to emerge victorious.
