Moutinho nears Monaco exit

France Football is reporting that Joao Moutinho could be leaving Monaco in the summer transfer window.

The Principality club have made a genuine U-turn in their recruitment strategy and they are determined to seriously trim down the wage budget.

And having already cashed in on several high earners, Monaco also aim to offload star midfielder Joao Moutinho as well.

While he has performed admirably since joining from FC Porto, the Portugal hotshot is currently earning €4 million per campaign, which is three times more than the new wage limit.

As a result, he is almost certain to be sold this summer, with several top clubs already showing interest.

And while former club Porto would consider signing him on a season-long loan, it would appear as though Zenit are the favourites for his signature.

The wealthy Russian club would have no problem with Moutinho’s high wage demands and they could try and negotiate a transfer fee with Monaco.

Hi Steve. Thanks a lot for pointing that out. It has been changed now. I thought it was the other way around, but should have checked to be sure nonetheless.
