The world’s best two players Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi come face-to-face in Sunday’s El Clasico

On Sunday night two of the biggest club teams in the world meet at the Nou Camp, as Barcelona host bitter-rivals Real Madrid in El Clasico.

As has become the custom in Spain, this game could have a big say in the destination of the Spanish league title.

The home side heads into this game with a one point lead at the top of La Liga and a victory would put the Catalans in control of the tight title race.

MSN

Sunday night’s Clasico will feature the two best attacks in the club game. Barcelona’s attacking trio of Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Neymar are the stuff of fantasy and they have combined superbly this season.

Suarez is the perfect foil for the majestic Messi and the skilful Neymar. The Uruguayan received criticism earlier in the season, but he has scored 11 goals and provided eight assists for his teammates, despite missing the opening few months of the season.

He has adapted his game since moving to Catalonia, accepting an almost secondary role to Lionel Messi, but everybody has to take a secondary role to the Argentinian at the Nou Camp.

Messi looks like he is now getting back to best and has scored 40 goals in all competitions this season and also provided 17 goals for his teammates. He is currently leading the race for the Pichichi in La Liga with 32 goals, two ahead of rival Cristiano Ronaldo, just a few months after trailing in the wake of the Ballon d’Or holder.

Neymar has found the net 20 times this season and has four assists. The Brazilian has also had to adapt his game at Barcelona, after enduring a difficult debut season at the Nou Camp. The poster boy of Brazilian football is now enjoying life alongside his fellow South Americans in the Barcelona attack.

BBC

Real Madrid’s attack of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, commonly known as the BBC in Spain are not in the best of form.

Ronaldo has come in for some heavy criticism in Spain in recent months, with some critics writing-off the Portuguese star just a few months after being crowned the world’s best player for the third time.

Despite criticism, the 30-year-old has scored 38 goals in all competitions and provided 13 goals this season. Those statistics are impressive for a player supposedly not enjoying a stellar campaign. The fact that he has dropped below Messi in the goalscoring charts will irk Ronaldo.

Welsh international winger Gareth Bale has also came in for criticism this season. The former-Spurs player had failed to provide an assist or a goal for eight games, but last time out produced a big performance scoring a brace against Levante in a 2-0 win and winning man of the match.

Bale at times has struggled to move out of the shadow of Ronaldo. However against Levante for the first time in a long time the Welshman took responsibility for the attack grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck.

Bale has scored 14 goals this season and provided six goals for his teammates. That record is no doubt disappointing for a player of his quality.

Karim Benzema is another player that is often criticised and the Frenchman’s future at the Bernabeu always seems in doubt. The 27-year-old is regarded as the number nine of the Real team and has scored 19 goals this season, but also collected nine assists.

Just like the Barcelona front three, Real Madrid’s are simply outstanding and despite the criticism of the trio they are top-class performers.

Betting News

Barcelona are favourites to claim a crucial victory at odds of 4/6, the draw is odds of 7/2, while Real Madrid are odds of 7/2.

This game could be decided by the two team’s respective attacks. El Clasico’s tend to produce great spectacles and Sunday night’s game promises to be another goal-fest with the world’s best players facing off against each other.

Whose attack will come out on top in El Clasico?
