Bayern Munich forward Thomas Mueller believes the Bundesliga is superior to the English Premier League and La Liga.
The forward feels that the German top flight has considerably more depth than its English and Spanish counterparts, with several teams fighting for the top five places in the Bundesliga.
“For me, the Bundesliga is a stronger competition than the English and Spanish leagues,” Mueller told Goal.com.
“In Germany, there are a lot of teams that are fighting for a place in the top five. In Spain, there are only two strong teams, and in England there are four teams.”
“There are several strong teams in Germany that can all beat each other. The Bundesliga is much more balanced in my opinion.”
With Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen advancing to the last 16 of the Champions League, Germany will have two clubs in the knockout stages of the competition.
England also have two representatives in the round of 16 in Arsenal and Chelsea, while Spain have Barcelona and Real Madrid in contention.
Italy still have three teams in the race to win Europe’s elite club competition, in AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli.
