(GSM) – Nagoya Grampus are a step closer to the Japanese championship following Sunday’s 0-1 win at Montedio Yamagata.

Following Cerezo Osaka’s goalless draw with Sanfrecce Hiroshima a day earlier, Nagoya knew that a win would allow them to extend their lead from five to seven points.

And after winning their last two league games, Nagoya again ended up on the right side of the scoreline as 30-year-old striker Keiji Tamada scored the only goal after 27 minutes at Yamagata’s ND Soft Stadium.

Nagoya are now seven points ahead of Cerezo, who share their second spot with Kashima Antlers. The latter defeated Vegalta Sendai 1-0 on Saturday.
