Napoli host Cesena in the Italian Serie A tonight, with the Sky Blues looking to finish the season in the top-three to secure Champions League football. Rafael Benitez’s side are currently 4th in the table, six points off 3rd, so they need a win at the very least this evening to give themselves a chance. Their clash against Cesena is their game in hand, so they can halve the deficit with a win, and would have two remaining league matches to catch AS Roma or SS Lazio.
It’s been a disappointing end to the season for Napoli, as the Italian giants have also recently been knocked out of the Europa League in the semi-final to Dnipro, and their manager looks on his way out of the Stadio San Paolo when the season comes to a close. Their chances of Champions League football look unlikely now, as their poor form suffered between March & April could now be costing them.
Nevertheless, they should have enough to see past Cesena in their own backyard tonight, with the visitors having won just once away from home all season. Betfair are giving odds of 2/11 for Napoli to earn all three points from this evening’s fixture as a result.
