Napoli agree deal for Gonalons

Italian daily La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that Napoli have reached an agreement to sign French midfielder Maxime Gonalons from Lyon.

The Azzurri had been hot on the trail of the 24-year-old for quite a while, but they seem to have finally succeeded in their quest to lure him to Stadio Olimpico.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Napoli have had a €13 million bid accepted by Lyon, while they also struck personal terms with the midfielder.

As a result, Gonalons is set to sign a four-year deal with the club worth €1.5 million per campaign plus bonuses.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is hoping to officially announce the deal ahead of Monday’s clash against Sampdoria, where the Azzurri are 4/11 to return to winning ways.

Maxime Gonalons has spent his entire career up to date at Stade Gerland and was handed a captain’s armband at the start of last season.
