Napoli have agreed a deal to bring Estudiantes forward Duvan Zapata to the club, president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed.

The 22-year-old has reportedly attracted a host of suitors, including English sides QPR and West Ham.

But it is the Serie A side that appear to have won the race for his signature, with the Colombian due to undergo a medical in Naples.

“We closed the acquisition of Zapata,” De Laurentiis said during a question and answer session on Twitter.

“We signed (a deal) with Estudiantes, the player is coming to Naples for the medical examination.”

After a summer of upheaval at the Stadio San Paolo, reports had suggested that the existing members of Napoli’s squad, including captain Paolo Cannavaro, were unhappy with the level of recruitment undertaken by Rafael Benitez.

However, midfielder Gokhan Inler’s agent has revealed that his client is content with life under the Spaniard, although he is not seeking to renew his contract with the club as things stand.

Speaking to Radio Crc, Dino Lamberti said: “It is too early to talk about a renewal -he still has two years left on his current contract.

“Gokhan is very happy in Naples. He has told me he that he has a great relationship with Mr Benitez.

“The coach has entrusted him with a lot of responsibility. With Benitez it can be a great season for Gokhan.”
