Newcastle, Arsenal vying for MLS midfielder

Arsenal have been joined by Premier League rivals Newcastle United in pursuit of the talented MLS midfielder Miguel Almiron.

The 23-year-old Paraguay starlet has been the standout performer for Atlanta United this season with his nine goals and impressive 14 assists in 30 appearances turning plenty of heads over in Europe.

Almiron’s impressive exploits this season have earned him the place in an All-Star team during his first MLS season and the finalist for MLS Newcomer of the Year.

Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Paraguay international for quite some time whereas the British media report that Rafa Benitez has also joined the chase.

Newcastle United boss is looking to strengthen his midfield during winter and is said to be keeping a close eye on the player who could be available for £15 million.

The Italian media report, however, that Serie A struggling giants AC Milan have also in the race for Miguel Almiron’s signature.
