Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis believes the club will be aware of Edinson Cavani’s future before the end of July.
Cavani has been linked with Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester City, and Spanish giants Real Madrid, throughout the off-season.
The Uruguayan forward has a buyout clause of £54 million, but it is an option that expires on August 10.
Cavani is due to return from holiday on July 20, following his involvement with Uruguay at the FIFA Confederations Cup, and De Laurentiis is confident that his star man will stay.
“I don’t think Cavani will leave on 10th August, when his buyout clause expires,” De Laurentiis told Radio Rai.
“I’m confident in him, because I consider him a real man. He won’t make me a joke of me.
“Should Cavani want to leave, he will decide it after a long period of reflection. But by July 20 we will probably know everything about his future.”
Cavani scored 38 goals in 43 matches in all competitions for Napoli last season.
