Neville: Kane would be a fantastic signing for Man Utd

Former Manchester United star Phil Neville believes Tottenham's Harry Kane would be a fantastic signing for the Red Devils.

Former Manchester United star Phil Neville believes Tottenham’s Harry Kane would be a fantastic signing for the Red Devils.

According to Sky sources, United are interested in signing the England international, who was named the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2014/15, this summer.

This summer, United manager Louis van Gaal has already brought in Memphis Depay, and reports are suggesting Hoffenheim playmaker Roberto Firmino is the next player on his way to Old Trafford.

That said, if the rumours linking Kane with United are true, the 21-year-old could be joining Depay and Firmino in the very near future.

However, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy will do everything he can to keep Kane, and United’s other target Hugo Lloris, at White Hart Lane.

“He was unbelievable last year and I am a big fan of Harry Kane, I love the way he goes about his business,” Neville told Sky Sports HQ.

“He works hard and has a great attitude and nothing seems to faze him, he’s answered every question that has been thrown his way.

“The team and the club has always had a backbone of British players and I think that is still important, that you get British players and the spine of the team has that British feeling.

“That has been the key success to this club for many years and I hope that would continue.

“He [Kane] would cost a lot of money that’s for sure and I’m sure Tottenham don’t want to lose him.

“But I think with losing Falcao, and being in the Champions League, United have [Robin] Van Persie, [Wayne] Rooney and [James] Wilson so they probably do need one more striker and the type of signing that Man Utd will make this summer will be a signing that will be a quality player from European football whether that is England or abroad.

“Kane fits that bill and if they can get Harry Kane here that would be a fantastic signing.”

Kane, who will feature for England at this summer’s UEFA European Under-21 Championship in the Czech Republic, bagged 21 goals and four assists in 34 English Premier League appearances for Spurs last season.

Dortmund sign Burki

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Switzerland international goalkeeper Roman Burki from relegated Bundesliga side Freiburg for a reported fee of €4.5 million.

Burki, who started all 34 league games for Freiburg last season, joins Dortmund on a three-year deal.

The Swiss shot-stopper is Dortmund’s third signing under new manager Thomas Tuchel following the arrivals of Gonzalo Castro from Bayer Leverkusen and Julian Weigl from Munich 1860.
