Competition: Premier League
Market: Newcastle and Sunderland to draw
Odds: 23/10 @ Ladbrokes

Newcastle welcome bitter rivals Sunderland to St James’ Park in the Premier League today, and are desperate for a result to boost their hopes of survival. The Magpies have struggled in this fixture for some time, and are in poor form ahead of this afternoon’s meeting. However, new manager Rafael Benitez could oversee a turnaround.

The Toon Army are 19th in the Premier League with 24 points from 29 games. United are coming off the back of four consecutive defeats, but their form has improved on home soil with two wins from three. Benitez’s side are sure to put in a performance, but they’re coming up against a Sunderland outfit in decent shape which could prove tricky.

Sam Allardyce’s men are one place and one point better off than their rivals, and have suffered just one defeat from their last five. Newcastle don’t have the best head-to-head record against Sunderland in recent years either, having lost their last six meetings with the Black Cats.

However, today’s fixture is sure to be a more even affair with both sides desperate not to lose. As a result, Ladbrokes are giving odds of 23/10 for the two North-East outfits to play out a stalemate.
