Competition: Premier League
Market: Steve McClaren next manager to exit post
Odds: 6/4 @ 888 Sport

Newcastle United manager Steve McClaren is on the brink following the Magpies’ poor start to the new season. Bottom of the Premier League after eight games, United are without a win in the division, and are the lowest scorers early on too. Their misery was compounded with a 6-1 defeat against Manchester City, and McClaren won’t last long if he can’t turn things around soon.

Five points adrift of safety, Newcastle are in dire straits this campaign, and the hapless head coach is reportedly pleading with the club hierarchy for more time to turn things around. However, should the gap to safety be extended in the coming weeks, McClaren will find it very hard to keep his job. A lack of transfers in the summer have been cited as one of many problems behind the scenes, and something has to give soon.

McClaren knows it’s a results business, and while Newcastle are languishing in the relegation zone, his job security will weaken. The former Derby manager is being given odds of 6/4 by 888 Sport to be the next to exit his post this season.
