Nico Gaitan on Atletico radar

Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan continues to be linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, AS can reveal.

The Argentina international is widely tipped to leave the Eagles for a top European club and Vicente Calderon remains one of the most likely destinations.

It is no secret that los Colchoneros boss Diego Simeone is a big fan of the former Boca Juniors hotshot and he has already attempted to lure him to Madrid on two occasions.

The Argentine first wanted to recruit Gaitan a year ago, only for the club officials to sign Alessio Cerci instead, before trying to sign his compatriot as a replacement for Arda Turan earlier this summer.

But, after the two clubs failed to agree on a transfer fee, Atletico eventually went for Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco.

Nicolas Gaitan could now come back to haunt los Colchoneros when Atletico host Benfica in the Champions League clash tomorrow evening, where home win pays 11/20.
