Once Caldas remain in first place in Group 2 of the Copa Libertadores following a 1-1 draw with Mexican outfit Monterrey.

The Colombians, who had already beaten Nacional of Paraguay and Brazilian giants Sao Paulo in their first two games, hoped for another good result against Monterrey but it was the away team to score first as Hector Morales found the target on 32 minutes.

The Mexicans went a man down on 57 minutes as Jesus Zavala received his second yellow card, and John Jairo Valencia levelled a minute later, 1-1.

Monterrey’s Gerardo Galindo was handed a direct red card in the 83rd minute, but the visitors survived the remainder of the match without conceding another goal.

Once Caldas lead the group with seven points from three games, and Monterrey follow with four. Sao Paulo (3) and Nacional (0) face each other on Thursday.
