The Dutch championship is not decided quite yet as AZ Alkmaar crashed to a 1-2 defeat by Vitesse Arnhem on Saturday.
Mounir El Hamdaoui put AZ in the lead on 19 minutes but the home side lacked the concentration to defend that advantage. Instead, Ricky van Wolfswinkel equalised in the 36th minute.
And disaster struck for AZ with just six minutes to go as a shot from Alexander Büttner somehow found its way past keeper Joey Didudica, 1-2. A draw would have been enough for AZ as second-placed Twente lost at Feyenoord.
The only goal at the match between Feyenoord and Twente was scored by Roy Makaay from the penalty spot in the 77th minute. Twente had both Douglas and Cheikh Tiote sent off in the final phase, followed by a red card to Giovanni van Bronckhorst (Feyenoord) in added time.
AZ are still expected to win the Dutch championship and it might happen on Sunday when only remaining rivals Ajax play away to PSV Eindhoven.
