No decision yet on PSG flop Jese – Emery

Unai Emery says no decision on the future of Jese Rodriguez – or any of the Paris Saint-Germain outcasts – will be made until the end of the season.

Jese moved to the Parc des Princes last August for €25 million but has flopped spectacularly, making just two starts before being farmed out on loan to hometown club Las Palmas in January.

Poland midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak is another who could be sold after spending less than 12 months in the French capital but Emery says all decisions will be taken after the Coupe de France final against Angers on May 27.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game at Saint-Etienne, he told reporters: “On Jese [and all the players], we will discuss that situation at the end of the season. We must see what the best solution is for the club and the players.

“The club have started to form their opinion and mine will also come.”

PSG go into the penultimate round of the Ligue 1 season three points behind Monaco and having played a game more.

The title could head to the principality this weekend but Emery is adamant his men will keep fighting while it is still mathematically possible for them to catch Leonardo Jardim’s table-toppers.

He added: “We still have a small possibility of the title but it is necessary to win against Saint-Etienne on Sunday.

“We have three games to go [including the cup final] and we will analyse each of them individually.

“The best preparation for the cup final is to win our last two games in Ligue 1.”

With the title almost wrapped up, thoughts have inevitably moved towards next season when Emery expects an even greater level of competition in the French top flight.

“Monaco have demonstrated a lot of strength in France and Europe, as have Nice, while Marseille want to improve. The competition in Ligue 1 is good,” he said.

“Competition makes things more difficult for us but it improves Ligue 1 as a whole.

“It’s also good that Marcelo Bielsa arrives at Lille.”

Perhaps with one eye on next season, Emery has called up Gaetan Robail and Lorenzo Callegari for the trip to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

“[Layvin] Kurzawa, Krychowiak, [Javier] Pastore, [Hatem] Ben Arfa and [Jean-Kevin] Augustin are absent for medical reasons while [Angel] Di Maria and Thiago Motta are suspended,” he said.

“The others are ready and in the group. Robail and Callegari are also present.”
