O.J. Simpson is a free man once again after he was released from prison on Sunday.
The 70-year-old former Heisman Trophy winner was released from Lovelock Correctional Center in northern Nevada at 12:08 am local time on Sunday morning after serving nine years for a 2007 armed robbery in Las Vegas.
The Nevada Department of Corrections released a photo and video of his departure on their Facebook page. It was not immediately known who picked Simpson up or where he was heading after being freed.
The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners ruled in July that Simpson could be freed as early as October 1. State prisons spokeswoman Brooke Keast said Simpson’s release was timed to avoid media attention.
While Simpson said at his parole hearing that he intended to live with a friend in Florida upon his release, the Florida Department of Corrections has not received the required paperwork that would allow him to do so.
Nor has the state of California, where Simpson’s sister, Shirley Baker, and oldest daughter, Arnelle, live.
Simpson’s attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, said he had no information regarding where Simpson will live, and that it is up to Simpson to make relocation plans on his own.
