Ochoa set for Anfield switch

The Express understands that Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Mexico international goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa when the transfer window reopens next month.

The 29 year old secured a move to Malaga in the summer after impressing at this summer’s World Cup finals, though he has only made one appearance for the La Liga side – the 1-1 draw at Deportivo La Coruna in the Copa del Rey earlier this month.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been in the market for a new goalkeeper as current first choice Simon Mignolet has struggled so far this season, with Norwich City’s John Ruddy also linked with a move to Merseyside this week.

The Reds, who were beaten 3-0 by fierce rivals Manchester United on Sunday, slipped into the bottom half of the table after their neighbours Everton beat Queens Park Rangers 3-1 yesterday evening and can now be backed at 13/2 to finish in the top four.
