Ochoa talks up Ligue 1 stay

Ajaccio highly rated goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has expressed his desire to remain in French Ligue 1 despite interest from abroad.

The Mexican shot-stopper looks set to quit the Corsican side when his contract expires in the summer, and he has been linked with quite a few top clubs of late.

And while many believed he would be leaving France in the summer, Ochoa has revealed that he is unlikely to quit Ligue 1.

“My priority is to stay in France and take advantage of a free transfer to sign for a good club,” the Mexican explained to France Football.

Ochoa needs to stay in the country for another year or two to acquire French passport and he plans to do so before moving to a big European club.

According to the latest reports, Marseille plan to sign the Mexico international as a replacement for Steve Mandanda.

The 28-year-old has managed to prove his worth during the three years in France, but with Ajaccio set to get relegated, he plans to leave the club in the summer.
