Owen on his way to Stoke?

Mirror Football are today reporting that Michael Owen is on the verge of signing for Stoke City.

Owen, who was released from Manchester United and the end of the Premier League season made just four appearances for The Red Devils last campaign.

The former England striker seems to be desperate to prove he can still score goals in the English top flight and Stoke could be the perfect choice for him.

The Potters have established themselves as a Premier League club and they need to improve their attack to make a challenge for the top ten next year.

According to This Is Staffordshire, Tony Pulis has not held formal talks with Owen but he still remains one of their big targets in this summer transfer window.

With former Teammate Peter Crouch already at the Britannia Stadium, this could be a great move for the 32-year-old as he seemed to develop a great partnership with Crouch.

As ever, Owen’s injury problems would be a concern but with the goal scoring ability he has, he would be a welcome addition to many squads in the top division.

There is still time for twists and turns in this deal and another club could come after the Englishman.

We shall see.
