Reports had suggested the practice occurred during Deportivo’s 4-0 win over Levante in April and Pablo feels a closer look is required, with Levante playing a number of relegation-threatened teams before the season’s close.
“It’s something (that) has left from their changing room,” the ex-Spain international said.
“They have accused among each other and La Liga is going to do an investigation. I hope it is not going to be just our match because against Celta Vigo that player missed a penalty too.
“Now they (Levante) are going to face teams which are in the bottom and they (La Liga) must pay attention because we have a clear conscience … we have been doing well for six matches and every season is the same. I wish [that] they investigate everything [at the] end of the season.”
This episode represents the first major challenge of new La Liga president Javier Tebas’ tenure and Pablo insisted he should scrutinise the allegations carefully.
“It’s always been suspicion,” he said. “It seems the new president of La
Liga is going to follow that issue and I hope it’s not going to be just this
match.
“Hopefully they will pay attention to everything.”
