Palmeiras president Arnaldo Tirone has confirmed the Brazil Serie A club are still eager to sign Werder Bremen’s Wesley.
It was reported earlier this month that the two clubs had agreed a six-million-euro fee for the midfielder but Bremen sought certain financial guarantees which their Brazilian rivals failed to satisfy.
However, Tirone is still trying to secure funds from outside investors in order to make the deal happen.
“I do not want a loan for the first instalment (of the transfer fee),” Tirone told Lancenet. “I want a partner who is willing to buy a stake in the player.”
Bundesliga club Bremen signed Wesley from Santos for 7.5 million euros in 2010, but the twice-capped Brazil international has failed to settle in Germany.
