Market: Cavani to join Arsenal

With Arsenal having lost striker Olivier Giroud to injury until potentially the New Year, manager Arsene Wenger revealed he would be signing a striker on deadline day to replace the Frenchman. One of his proposed targets is Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan helped PSG win the French Ligue One title last season, and has started 2014/15 well, scoring two goals in his first four league games. As Arsenal have Yaya Sanogo, Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell, Cavani would provide a much stronger attacking option.
A host of clubs around Europe have expressed an interest to sign him due to his consistent scoring record in both France and Italy for former side Napoli, and it does appear a move could be made on deadline day.
Betfair are giving odds of 5/4 for Cavani to join Arsenal, as the London club are in desperate need for attacking options. It’s unknown how much he would set the Gunners back, but Wenger is certainly keen on bringing him in before the window shuts.
