Parma defender makes a shock switch to Roma

Roma have announced the loan signing of Parma defender Paolo Castellini, with an option to buy his contract at the end of the season.

The two clubs have agreed on the buy-out clause, which stands at 1 million euros and should Roma exercise the option, it will be paid in three installments.

It seems that Castellini himself was surprised by the move.

“It’s an exceptional opportunity. Roma represent an exceptional opportunity and it’s devastatingly exciting.”

Castellini started his career at Cremonese but it was spells at Torino and Parma that brought him wide recognition. He was an integral party of overachieving Parma side during the last few years and the good performances in Serie A have earned him a shock move to one of the title contenders.
