Parma versus Udinese match postponed amid hosts´ financial woes

Parma’s woes have reached a new nadir after their Serie A match at home to Udinese was postponed amid increasing financial difficulties.

Parma’s Serie A match at home to Udinese, originally scheduled for Sunday, has been postponed as the club’s financial crisis deepens.

Roberto Donadoni’s side are bottom of the table with 10 points from 23 matches and the playing squad is in dispute with the club over unpaid wages.

They have already suffered a one-point deduction for failing to pay wages on time and could face further sanction because of these latest struggles.

A statement from the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) read: “The match between Parma and Udinese has been postponed to a later date that will be fixed by the National Professional League Serie A.”

The statement added that Parma had requested the match be played behind closed doors.

Reports earlier on Friday suggested that coach Donadoni cancelled training, while captain Alessandro Lucarelli revealed the players had issued an ultimatum to president Giampietro Manenti over wages due.

Lucarelli told SportMediaset: “We talked [on Thursday] with the president, who told us that the problem is just getting the money transferred into our accounts.

“He said the money has been paid, but we’re running out of patience. It’s time for facts. We gave a precise deadline and now we must act as a team.”
