Pellegrini confident of Real’s Cup chances

On Tuesday, Real Madrid hopes to brush away the 4-0 defeat against Alcorcon in the return game ath the Bernabeu. Real boss Manuel Pellegrini is confident his side will advance to the next round of the Copa del Rey.

Two weeks ago, Real Madrid were humiliated by third division team Alcorcon. Los Merengues didn’t stand a chance against the humble side: 4-0. Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini thinks his team will advance to the next round, despite the bad result of the first match.

“Coming back from a 4-0 deficit it always hard, but we know we can do it. We have the talent,” said Pellegrini who said he can’t predict how Alcorcon will play in the Bernabeu.

“It is impossible to say. We are very anxious to get out there and to play with intensity. We cannot rush ourselves and we need to make Alcorcon feel like they are playing against the entire Santiago Bernabeu,” according to Pellegrini. The former Villarreal trainer refused to state qualifying for the next round is mandatory for a club as big as Real.

“Mandatory is a complicated word in football. We have the willingness and team spirit, and we need to show it on the pitch.”

Kaka thinks a club like Real Madrid should always reach the last 16 of the Cup. The Brazilian midfielder hopes to benefit from the important win over city rivals Atletico Madrid, last Saturday (2-3).

“Our victory in the derby has boosted our morale to make a comeback on Tuesday,” said Kaka on the club’s official website.

“Our history and our pride force us to make a comeback”
