Russian league leaders Rubin Kazan are through to the quarter finals of the national cup. Penalties were needed to eliminate Amkar Perm.

Amkar Perm, currently placed fourth in the league, held Rubin to a goalless draw in Kazan and no goals were scored in extra time either.

But Rubin were much calmer in the penalty shoot-out and won 4-1 to make it through to the next round.

Other sides in the quarter finals are Tom Tomsk, Dinamo Moskva, Lokomotiv Moskva, Sibir Novosibirsk, FK Moskva, Spartak Moskva and CSKA Moskva, making a total of no less than five Muscovite representatives.
