Pennant set for non league switch

Former Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant is set to sign for non league outfit Billericay Town, according to Sky Sports.

The thirty-four year old had been on trial with Scottish Premiership outfit Hibernian but has opted to move to the Bostik League Premier Division club, who are three steps outside the football league.

Billericay have made their intentions of progressing clear over the past twelve months having also brought in former Jamie O’Hara and Paul Koncheskey, both boasting oodles of Premier League experience.

Pennant made seven appearances for Bury last season and has played in Singapore and India since leaving Stoke City in 2014.

He has racked up one hundred and eighty-five Premier League appearances in total having also turned out for Leeds United, Birmingham City and Portsmouth.

During his time at Anfield he played in the final of the Champions League, which Liverpool lost to AC Milan in the 2006/07 season.
